Cinematographer, also actor, editor, director and producer · Born September 28, 1984 (42) · Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Anthony J. Rickert-Epstein (A.J.) was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has been making films since he was eight years old. He has subsequently been the main editor for several feature films, some of which have been uncredited. Today, A.J. is an IATSE 600 cinematographer as well as a seasoned visual effects supervisor and editor. His work can be seen in numerous feature-length films, television shows, music videos, and web series. Most recently he lensed and VFX supervised the smash hit biopic "Salt-N-Pepa", (directed by Mario Van Peebles) in addition to lensing, VFX supervising, and editing the period piece "Songs of Solomon", which was the official 2020 Academy Awards submission by the country of Armenia for best international feature film, best cinematography, and best editing. Songs of Solomon will be released theatrically worldwide in 2021. A.J. is married to photographer Christina Napier. They have three children.

Reviewers score the cinematography 39/100 in their films, across 16 reviewed titles; fans 60, detractors 30. The element that speaks to their work as a cinematographer.

Percentiles are each film's standing among all films on MovieCove; the typical film is the median, so one outlier cannot drag it. Percentiles and reviewer scores count the films IMDb credits them on, for now; the Midcredits score bands, the shape of the crowd and the two cards count their MovieCove titles, shows included (a show ranked among shows), appearances as themselves left out. A descriptor is the shape of a title's IMDb rating distribution against the catalog; "most divisive" needs a spread wider than half of all titles, and a card names only a principal credit: a craft role, and on a show a crew role or a run of episodes, never a courtesy credit or a one-off guest spot.
